JTS045 – 6 Days Samburu, Lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara
Day 1. Nairobi-Maasai Mara National Reserve.
Depart Nairobi in the Morning for Maasai Mara passing through the dramatic Great Rift Valley stopping at the view point, Ascend the western rim of the valley crossing the Loita plains (Maasai-land), see red-clad Maasai warriors tend their multi-colored herds amongst plains game. Game viewing en route to lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive inside the most scenic park in Kenya where great concentration of game is seen including the “Big Five”. Dinner and overnight at Mara sopa lodge/similar.
Day 2. Maasai mara National Reserve.
Morning and afternoon game viewing inside the Park. Search for wild game black manned lion for which Mara is famous for, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, leopard, grants gazelle are quite common, even the rare rhino might come out of the thicket for you, hyenas are plentiful, Extend your drive to the hippo point where schools of hippo submerge on the approach of vehicles only to surface seconds later to shot and gamble their displeasure as the crocodiles sunbathe on the river banks mouths agape. Between meals there is optional visit to the Maasai villages for an insight to their culture if clients so wish. Meals and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/similar. Optional Balloon ride.
Day 3. Maasai Mara-Lake Nakuru National Park
Early morning (before breakfast) game viewing drive at Maasai Mara in search of any wild game you might have missed previously. Return to lodge for breakfast and afterwards depart for Lake Nakuru arriving in time for lunch. Lake Nakuru is referred as pink lake for it’s thousands of pink flamingos and other bird life-it’s a bird watchers paradise. It has a surprisingly number of animals, it is a rhino sanctuary and the “Big Five” except the elephant can be seen here, afternoon game drive .Dinner and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge/Sarova Lion Hill lodge.
Day 4. Lake Nakuru – Samburu National Reserve.
Early morning game viewing drive to savour the beauty of the park and go searching for any wild game you might have missed previously, look for warthogs and water bucks as you leave the Park ,Breakfast at lodge and depart for Samburu crossing the Equator to the rugged semi-desert region in the northern Kenya. Arrive in time for lunch at lodge. Afternoon game drive to search for the “stars of Samburu”. Dinner and overnight at Samburu lodge/Serena lodge.
Day 5. Samburu
Early morning and afternoon game viewing drive at Samburu in search of the rarely found species of wild game like the liver-red reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, the long necked gerenuk antelopes, beisa oryx, blue flanked somali ostrich, vulturine guinea fowl and also braving lions on the grass, leopards in the trees and plenty of other plains game. In between meals there is optional visit to the Samburu villages if clients so wish. All meals and overnight at Samburu lodge/ Serena lodge.
Day 6. Nairobi
Breakfast and depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon.
