JTS051 – 7 Days The Ark, Samburu, Mt Kenya Safari Club, Maasai Mara
Day 1; The Ark/Treetops
Depart Nairobi at around 0830hrs and drive to the shoulders of Mt. Kenya arriving at the Aberdare Country Club for lunch. After lunch transfer by lodge vehicle to the The Arks Lodge where from the lodge balcony you view game that often visit the floodlit waterhole and saltlick–e.g elephants, rhino, buffalo and giant forest hog. Dinner and overnight at The Ark lodge/Treetops Lodge.
Day 2; Samburu
After breakfast depart for Samburu passing through hush farmlands, cross the Equator where you can stop for pictures. Proceed to Samburu to a rugged semi desert region. It is noted for game not found to the more lush parks to the south e.g. unusual reticulated giraffe, grevy’s zebra, oryx and many more. Lunch. Afternoon game drives. Dinner and overnight at Samburu lodge/Samburu Sopa Lodge.
Day 3; Samburu
Full day in Samburu with game drives .Search for the rare liver red reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Blue flanked Somali Ostrich, Vulturine Guinea Fowl, Longneck Gerenuk. See braving lions on the grass, Cheetah, Leopards among plenty of other plains game. (optional visits to Samburu villages). All meals and overnight at Samburu lodge/Samburu Sopa Lodge.
Day 4; Mt. Kenya Safari Club
Pre -Breakfast game drive and depart for the Mt. Kenya Safari Club arriving in time for lunch. It’s here where the Kenya’s mountain shows her crown at dawn. Rest of the day at leisure– Enjoy the clubs’ facilities which include- Golf, Tennis, Horseback trekking, William Holden Animal orphanage, Croquet, Heated swimming pool, Trout fishing, Jogging circuits and Bird watching. Dinner and overnight at the club.
Day 5; Maasai Mara
Depart Mount Kenya in the Morning for Maasai mara passing through the dramatic Great Rift Valley stopping at the view point, Ascend the western rim of the valley crossing the Loita plains (maasai-land), see red-clad Maasai warriors tend their multi-colored herds amongst plains game. Game viewing enroute to lodge for lunch. Afternoon game drive inside the most scenic park in Kenya where great concentration of game is seen including the “Big Five”. Dinner and overnight at Royal Mara Lodge/Ilkeliani Camp/Mara Leisure Camp.
Day 6. Maasai mara National Reserve.
Morning and afternoon game viewing inside the Park. Search for wild game black manned lion for which Mara is famous for, cheetah, buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, leopard, grants gazelle are quite common, even the rare rhino might come out of the thicket for you, hyenas are plentiful, Extend your drive to the hippo point where schools of hippo submerge on the approach of vehicles only to surface seconds later to shot and gamble their displeasure as the crocodiles sunbathe on the river banks mouths agape. Between meals there is optional visit to the Maasai villages for an insight to their culture if clients so wish. Meals and overnight at at Dinner and overnight at Royal Mara Lodge/Ilkeliani Camp/Mara Leisure Camp. Optional Balloon ride.
Day 7; Nairobi
Pre- breakfast game drive, after breakfast depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon.
