3 Days Tsavo East and Tsavo West Safari
Day 1: Mombasa Safari to Tsavo East and Tsavo West, 3 Days Kenya Safari
Depart Mombasa for Tsavo East National Park for game drive before lunch and short rest at your pre-booked Safari Camp/Lodge. Afternoon game drive to chance spotting as many wild animals as possible while enjoying and soaking in the beauty of nature. Dinner and overnight at the lodge or camp.
Tsavo East, the oldest and largest (covering a whooping 13,747 square kilometres) park in Kenya, is generally flat, with dry plains, hills and scattered acacia scrubland. The park is famous for its landscapes, its lighting and its large herds of big mammals (such as elephants, buffalos and lions). The park achieved notoriety in the 1900s when ‘the Man-eaters of Tsavo’, a pair of rogue man-eating lions, preyed gruesomely on numerous construction workers of the Kenya-Uganda Railway. The incident was described in a book titled ‘The Man-Eaters of Tsavo’ and later turned into a Hollywood film in 1996. Today the park is more famous for its numerous prides of mane-less lions and being the park with the highest population of elephants in Kenya.
Day 2: Tsavo Safari: Tsavo East – Tsavo West National Park
Early morning Safari Game Drive in Tsavo East National Park before breakfast. After breakfast drive to Tsavo West with a game viewing en-route. Lunch at your pre-booked Safari Camp or Lodge. After a short rest we embark on an afternoon Safari Game Drive with a visit to the Ngulia Rhino Sanctuary where we have chances of seeing the endangered Black Rhino among other animals and bird species. Dinner and overnight.
Throughout your journey you will be stunned by the immense beauty of the surrounding landscape. Tsavo West National Park covers an area of 9,065 square kilometres and it’s terrain is much more varied than that of Tsavo East, it ranges from 200-1000m in altitude. The northern sector is bush land with scattered native baobab trees. Wild animals in the park include elephants, African lions, hippos, cheetahs, hartebeest and buffalo.
Day 3: Tsavo West – Mombasa
Early morning breakfast then check out of your safari lodge and drive to Mzima springs where millions of liters of water bubble from underground stream that run from Mount Kilimanjaro filtering through porous rocks in Chyulu Hills and bubbling to form a huge clear pool that is inhabited by hippos, crocodiles and fish. Leave Mzima springs with game viewing en-route and exit the park. Arrive in Mombasa in the afternoon.
